How To Use Sigils to Improve Your Self-Talk!

2/7/2019

First up, sigils, what the heck are they?!
Think of sigils as a very personal symbol or design that sparks emotion for the creator. A similar example would be the emotions, beliefs, and memories that are invoked by the symbol of the cross. However, in the case of sigils the symbol will probably only mean something to the creator (unless created for a group, like this blog post). The idea is similar to a vision board, where the overall image creates a reaction that surpasses words.
I think if we walk through how to make a sigil, it will make more sense....
First up, let's create a statement that helps improve our self talk.
You can use any affirmation that you like or write something new and unique just to you. The important part is that we do not use words that will leave us 'wanting' or 'waiting'. A few examples of statements to use are...
  • I manifest my dreams through positive action.
  • I speak my truth.
  • My self-love creates my reality.
  • I completely love and accept myself.

Let's choose 'I speak my truth.' since sometimes we get caught up in the should's, could's and would have's which may interfere in interacting with our empowered self.
For the next step, take all the vowels out of your statement (a, e, i, o, u, y).
I like to write it out again, preferably on a clean page in my journal, just to see what letters are left:
SPK M TRTH
If you have any multiples you can drop them so you only have one of each letter.
For our example we now have:
S P K M T R H
Now the fun really begins!
Start to create a design with these letters. I usually create mulitple designs to determine what resonates the most with me. Keep in mind, letters can be capitalized or not, they can face forwards or backwards, sideways or upside down. Perhaps you extend the arcs of the 'S' or elongate the straight line of the 'P'.
See a few examples below:
Once you have a design that really speaks to you, I suggest drawing it on a blank page all by itself.
Congratulations! This is your new power sigil to spark your mind to always speak your truth!
Of course, you can create other sigils based on whatever you want to work towards.
Once you have your sigil, what do you do with it?!
  • Snap a picture of it and make it your lock screen or back ground of your phone.
  • Draw it in lotion on your body whenever you need a reminder.
  • Put it on the cover of your journal (bonus points if you create it as a Vision Journal!)
  • Draw it on paper, cut it out and paste it near your bathroom mirror.

Similar to a vision board or vision journal, seeing the image over and over is key!
